Good questions, clear answers.
How watching works, what it costs and which parks are covered.
Getting started
Which parks are covered?+
BC Parks campgrounds and US National Park campgrounds booked on Recreation.gov. Each campground page shows whether we can check openings and hold a site there.
Can I book a campsite here today?+
You can check current openings here and book on the official website. If a campground is full, start a watch: we email you when a site opens, or hold it in your park cart so you can pay the park.
Can I search without an account?+
Yes. Searching campgrounds and choosing dates and sites need no account. Checking current openings and starting a watch need you to sign in with your email.
Where does my saved plan go?+
Trips you haven't started stay in this browser. Once you start a watch, it's saved to your account and shown in My watches.
Search and sites
Where do the campground records come from?+
From BC Parks, the National Park Service and Recreation.gov. Openings are checked live on the official site for your exact dates.
Which filters can I use?+
Dates, nights, equipment, party size and site filters. Available filters depend on the campground.
What happens when a place has no availability?+
Start a watch with every date and site you'd accept. One watch covers them all and costs the same.
Alerts and automatic booking
Will saving a trip draft send me alerts?+
Only started watches send alerts. Alerts go to the email you signed in with.
Can you book automatically for me?+
We can hold a matching site in your official cart. You then review and pay the park on its website before the hold expires. We never pay park fees for you.
Do you complete the booking for me?+
No. We hold the site in your cart; you finish the booking and pay the park on its official website before the hold expires. If you don't pay in time, the park releases the site.
How often do you check for openings?+
We keep checking the official site for you and hold a matching site as soon as one opens. When the official site is busy or has errors, checks may be delayed.
Accounts and pricing
When am I charged?+
Only after you finish booking a site we held for you. When we hold it, the fee is just held on your card; if you don't book, the hold is released. You pay once per campground trip: all the dates and sites you watch at one campground together count as one trip.
Is there a paid plan?+
You pay only after the booking is done: CAD 9.99 for BC Parks or USD 9.99 for US National Parks, once per campground trip. While a site is held, the fee is only held on your card; if you don't book, the hold is released.
Do I need to enter a park account password?+
Only for automatic holds, which need your park account. Your password is used once to sign in and deleted within 15 minutes. Alerts need no park account.
Can I create an account?+
Sign in with your email and we'll send you a code — no password. Your HoldMyCamp account is separate from your park accounts.
